The Indian Society for Surface Science and Technology is an organization for the cultivation, interaction and dissemination of knowledge in the field of surface science and technology. It also strives to promote industry Academia interaction.

The society is run by an executive committee, elected and nominated by the members of the society every two years. The The president of the society is the executive head.

Publishing a quarterly international journal (Journal of Surface Science and Technology) with an international Editorial Board is prime activity of the society. The journal covers theoretical and basic aspects of colloid and interface science and its related applications in technology. Publication of proceedings of conferences and monographs is also undertaken by the society from time to time.

The society organizes conferences, seminars and workshops at different parts of India, which are attended by active researchers in the fields of surface science and technology. It also organizes international conferences on contemporary topics of surface science at regular intervals.

The endowment lectures, instituted by the society, are delivered at the conferences.
